A Glamorous Spring Wedding at Botleys Mansion

Nicky and Mike celebrated and ultra-glamorous wedding at Botleys Mansion during the spring of 2015. Their colour scheme featured hints of mint and pink to complement the décor and surroundings of the stunning Surrey wedding venue.

About the Couple

After a winter proposal in the romantic city of Rome, Nicky and Mike knew that they wanted to get married the following spring-time, at a wedding venue close to London where they live together. The couple both fell in love with the country house wedding venue, Botleys Mansion, from the moment they set eyes on the imposing driveway and stunning staircase that leads up to the house. It was the perfect mix of beauty, glamour and grandeur with the modern feel that the newly engaged couple wanted for their speical day.

The Planning

Choosing a spring wedding date meant that Nicky and Mike had 15 months to plan the perfect day. The couple were given a dedicated Wedding Planning Manger at Harper, Natalie, who made sure that nothing was forgotten during the run up to their celebration.

After Nicky and Mike had chosen their dream wedding venue, they booked a band and were introduced to wedding photographer, Helen Cawte, through a friend at work. Helen’s portfolio was incredible, with a soft, subtle focus on the detail. Her calm demeanour meant that the couple felt completely at ease, therefore Nicky and Mike ended up with thousands of photos capturing so many different moments and memories throughout the day.
The wedding cake and menu tasting at Harper, prior to the wedding day, was fantastic. To the benefit of Nicky’s father, Mike was unable to make the food tasting and so Nicky and her father sampled their way through six miniature versions of each dish across three different courses, with fine wine to match. They settled on a delicious wedding breakfast menu of smoked salmon, Hampshire sticky beef and crème brulee.
The team at Botleys Mansion introduced Nicky and Mike to Mandy, the owner of Sonning Flowers, when it came to decorating their day with fragrance and beauty. A floral theme of pretty pastels, with soft pinks, peaches and creams were used to complement Nicky’s sleek, satin Amanda Wakeley wedding gown. Nicky chose mint coloured bridesmaids dresses designed by Maids to Measure, for her best girls; the choice of colour was taken from inspiration surrounding Botleys Mansion and spring blossoms. The bouquets and floral arrangements included roses, blossom, ranunculus and gypsophila.

The Day

March 20th, 2015 was a beautiful, sunny and crisp Friday and the couple could not have asked for a more perfect English spring day to celebrate their nuptials. After a ceremony packed with their closest family and friends in The Green Room at Botleys Mansion, the newlywed couple enjoyed champagne and canapés outside in the grounds followed by a delicious wedding breakfast in the bright and airy Atrium. Nicky, Mike and their guests then danced the night away on the twinkling lights of the dance floor to their awesome live-band, the ‘I Do’s’.
Their wedding day was full of love, fun and celebration and really was the best day of their lives.

The Honeymoon

For their honeymoon, Nicky and Mike travelled to Kurumathi Island in the Maldives. After what felt like an epic journey (a taxi, two aeroplanes, a bus, a sea plane and a speedboat) they finally arrived in paradise. After the busy build-up to the wedding, Kurumathi was the perfect place to escape and unwind, with uninterrupted sandy beaches lapped by pristine turquoise ocean.

Top Tips for Harper Brides

When asked if there was any advice that she would give to future wedding planning couples, Nicky said, “Just enjoy yourself and get yourself a wedding planner! I am a natural worrier but when the morning came, any apprehensions were forgotten as Botleys Mansion took care of everything whilst we enjoyed the celebrations.”
