A Rustic Wedding at Cain Manor

Naomi and James started their journey together after meeting on a night out in Manchester.

Naomi’s brother invited her and a girlfriend along with him and James on their night out in the town. This night was an obvious success for Naomi and James; they hit if off right away and as the two explained the moment they met felt so special and ‘It really was love at first sight’.

A Truly Magical Proposal on Lake Geneva
Naomi and James were together for three years before he decided that it was the right time to plan his perfect destination proposal.

Every year the couple travel to Switzerland to visit Naomi’s grandparents, however, on the 30th July 2016, James decided to turn this year’s travels into an even more exciting trip. Before leaving on their journey, James convinced Naomi that he was going to film their holiday together as a little ‘hobby’ project, this way she wouldn’t think anything of him recording them together.

James perfectly planned a champagne picnic for two, on a private speedboat in the middle of Lake Geneva! Whilst taking in the stunning scenery of the lake and capturing every wonderful moment on film with James’ new ‘film hobby’ he started to read Naomi his very own letter, this was his way of making sure every meaningful word was said. With Naomi filled with laughter and tears, before she knew it James was on one knee and holding a stunning rose gold solitaire diamond ring.

After Naomi of course saying ‘Yes’ – the two enjoyed the a truly stunning morning on the lake before returning for a surprise lunch (planned by James) with all the family to celebrate. They finished off their magical day by watching the fireworks displayed over Lake Geneva from the luxury of their hotel balcony. The perfect end to one of their most memorable days ever!

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Venue

Naomi and James like to do things at 100 mph, therefore, choosing their barn-style wedding venue was their obvious starting point. They even had their first venue viewing booked whilst they were still in Switzerland and began writing up their guest list on the flight home, on the back of an aeroplane sick bag!

With Naomi being a very organised person, it was only natural for her to have several wedding venue visits lined up – 8 in total. After a recommendation from a friend, Cain Manor was first on the list and after the two explained how they fell in love with the venue after their visit. The 7 remaining wedding venue viewings were cancelled because Naomi and James knew that Cain Manor was the luxurious country house venue they wanted to book and celebrate their marriage in.

The Big Day: 24th March, 2017

Naomi and James were married in The Music Room at Cain Manor on Friday 24th March, 2017.

With a stunning ceremony room filled with 55 of their closest family, friends and perfectly placed gypsophila at each end of the aisle chairs, Naomi walked arm in arm with her father towards her soon-to-be hubby. Meanwhile the gospel choir performed ‘Angel of mine – Eternal’, as her entrance song of choice which helped create the most perfect atmosphere. Their 1:30pm ceremony lasted approximately half an hour and the couple were applauded as they were pronounced husband and wife.

After a joyful drinks reception, the newlywed couple re-entered The Music Room, this time decorated with woodland themed centrepieces of tree logs, covered in moss and small succulent plants all surrounding a central rustic wooden vase. They also added a lovely personal touch of funny Polaroid images on a tiny log for their guests name placeholders. For their wedding favours, Naomi and James decided to donate money to Cancer Research and presented each guest with a badge in loving memory of James’ father. Lastly, the stunning circular banqueting tables were given names of cities that Naomi and James had previously visited on their travels together.

Following their magnificent three course banquet, the couple sliced through a gorgeous, rustic-looking, three tired wedding cake consisting of chocolate and vanilla sponge. The wedding cake was beautifully designed and decorated with burlap and fresh gypsophila.

Naomi and James decided to start the evening’s entertainment with their guitarist (John James Newman) welcoming their guests and performing ‘Angel/Better Together – Jack Johnson’ for their first dance as a married couple. As the night went on, the two newlyweds, plus an additional 38 evening guests, danced the night away to a playlist of their favourite songs played by the Harper DJ.

Wedding Dress

Naomi tried on around 15 wedding dresses before she found ‘the one’. Having saved images of her dream style wedding dresses for months before her shopping trip, Naomi went into her search knowing that she liked a couple of different styles; from lace to very simple and elegant silk gowns.

When the time came to visiting dress shops, Naomi was certain that she wanted a simple silk dress, however, when the helpful shop assistant pulled out a Stella York, floor-length fitted lace dress with a low back, the excited bride-to-be had a change of heart. The minute the Naomi stepped into this dress she knew it was hers!

Naomi paired her perfect wedding dress with a super comfortable pair of Carvela heels – ideal for standing and dancing in throughout the day and night.

The ultimate wedding day hair style was something that Naomi took some time to decide on, as there was a little pressure to wear her hair up to have something ‘different’ for her day. However, after trying out a few different looks and after a few sleepless nights, Naomi knew she wanted to keep her wedding day hair style simple. She opted for something she knew suited her and chose to wear it down; long and curly with a beautiful half-hair floral crown to complete her look. When it came to her bridesmaids, Naomi chose for her three best friends to all wear gorgeous grey multi-way dresses. The flexible design meant that each bridesmaid could wear the dress in a different style to suit her body shape and personality perfectly.
