Kirsty and Iain’s Wedding at Cain Manor

A Bird Themed Wedding at Cain Manor

Kirsty and Iain met online, dated for three years and purchased their first house together before booking a romantic break to Taormina Sicily.

They stayed at a beautiful beach resort just 40 minutes from the foot of Mt Etna, just across from the stunning Isola Bella. The couple had gone on a romantic walk across to Isola Bella and when they reached a perfect spot, facing the ocean, Iain got down on one knee and asked Kirsty to be his wife. Iain had spent the 4 previous months designing and creating Kirsty’s engagement ring. He sourced the diamond and then worked on perfecting the clasp and the ring itself.

Finding a Spring Wedding Dress

The bride-to-be shopped for her wedding dress locally and tried on around 10-12 different styles before falling in love with a simple, slim-line dress with a low cut, lace back, designed by Dando London. The gorgeous design reminded Kirsty of the wedding dress her late nan wore for her own wedding many years ago – so when Kirsty saw her own mother’s reaction, emotions ran high and she knew she’d found ‘the one’.

Kirsty splashed out on a luxurious pair of Jimmy Choo wedding shoes in a light gold sparkle which glimmered under her stunning dress. She knew that she wanted to buy a gorgeous pair of shoes that she could wear time and time again. When it came to her bridal hair and beauty, Kirsty wanted to keep everything natural and did her own make-up, but had one of her bridesmaids tie her soft curled hair up in a loose bun and added a glitzy hair vine to complete her bridal style.

The Bridal Party

Kirsty asked her best friend Louise to be her Maid of Honour, as well as 4 bridesmaids who were her 2 cousins and 2 friends from school. The girls sourced long, blush pink dresses online and each wore a style to suit their own personality and body shape. The groom, his best man and ushers purchased their suits from the ‘Tailor Me’ service provided by Moss Bros. The groom wanted to wear something a little bit different and perfectly fitting, so it made sense to choose a classic design that could be worn again in the future.

Booking a Luxury Barn Wedding Venue

Kirsty and Iain were given wedding venue advice from a friend who had recently been married at Cain Manor’s sister venue, Botleys Mansion.

The couple, who were looking for a barn-style wedding venue, added Cain Manor to their list of 6 wedding venues to visit before booking an appointment to visit on a Sunday in August 2016.

The layout of Cain Manor was ideal for the couple who were looking for an intimate wedding venue but with enough space so that their guests wouldn’t feel cramped. They also loved the fact that there was plenty of space for older guests to take some quiet time away from the party if they needed to. The theme and style of the venue were perfect and the outside space was exactly what the couple were looking for.

The Big Day: Friday 26th May, 2017

Kirsty and Iain booked a 2pm ceremony with the Hampshire Registrar several months ahead of their wedding.

Signing the register wedding ceremony Cain Manor barn Hampshire

The bride walked down with her father to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christiana Perri, sung beautifully by a gospel choir who were positioned on the Minstrels’ Gallery, overlooking the barn. The Minstrels’ Gallery was draped with fairy lights and the white wedding ceremony chairs were decorated with elegant sashes and gypsophilia. The registrar’s table featured a stunning floral garland and over-sized vases filled with beautiful spring arrangements were positioned on either side of the altar. The couple had liaised with wedding florist, Rosie Orr, when it came to decorating Cain Manor with stunning floral décor.

After their exchange of rings and vows, the couple and their guests headed back out in to The Library and out in to the glorious grounds to enjoy a selection of sumptuous wedding canapés teamed with glasses of celebratory Prosecco. After group photographs around the grounds of Cain Manor with their wedding photographer, Helen Abraham, the couple and their guests ventured back in to The Music Room to enjoy a three course wedding banquet menu.

Bird Themed Decor

The wedding ceremony and reception were decorated with a bird theme throughout. Reception tables featured birdcages, flowers along with hand-made drink tokens, and were all named after birds including the dove, wren, canary, robin, hummingbird and more.

The couple hired the Popcorn cart directly from Harper and hired Aimee Rider from Les Bouffant Cakes to design their show-stopping wedding cake. The four-tier cakes was filled with vanilla sponge, white chocolate and raspberry coulis and was covered with a pale pink and ivory icing with a damask design and over 100 hand-made gum paste flowers, topped with a pair of lovebirds, in keeping with the bird wedding theme.

Kirsty’s grandmother was unfortunately unable to attend the wedding due to illness, but at as a lovely gesture, the newlywed bride decided to save her bouquet and give it to her grandmother as a token from the day.

For their evening entertainment, the couple hired a band called ‘Chartz’ who played ‘Unchained Melody’ by The Righteous Brothers as the couple danced their first dance in the middle of the large barn-style Music Room in front of their 130 guests. A light evening buffet was served for everyone and a great night was had by all.

After the wedding, Kirsty and Iain celebrated their honeymoon in the Far East. Iain chose a multi-destination honeymoon to Singapore, Bali and the Gili Islands but the couple spent time choosing all of their hotels together.
