Karen and Richard’s Wedding at Botleys Mansion

Explore Botleys Mansion

Childhood Sweethearts

Karen and Richard met during their teenage years and were in the same circle of friends, who are still great friends to this very day.

After spending 12 exciting years together, Richard decided to propose on the couple’s anniversary. On 18th December, 2015, the couple took the day off to celebrate their anniversary, but ended up celebrating their engagement instead. Sharing the news with family and friends came as a lovely surprise (and a shock to some), but all in all, the couple were buzzing and couldn’t want to start the process of wedding planning.

Booking Botleys Mansion

The engaged couple commenced their search for the perfect wedding venue online and shortlisted 7 favourites. They visited Botleys Mansion first, but wanted to be absolutely sure on their decision, and therefore visited a further 6 wedding venues before securing a June date at the Surrey Mansion wedding venue, with a deposit.

What made Karen Richard fall in love with Botleys Mansion?
“The atrium! We absolutely loved that space in Botleys and the fact we could get married in there made it even better.” Said Karen.

The couple chose a summer date so that they could head straight off on a summer holiday/honeymoon and they found the online planning tool extremely helpful when it came to food orders, table plans and the instant responses they received from The Harper Team, whenever they had a question.

Bridal Prep

Karen chose (after trying on 8 other styles) a traditional ballgown style wedding dress created by designer Stella York. The gorgeous tulle gown featured a voluminous skirt and an illusion neckline – it was perfect. She teamed her gown up with a stunning pair of Jimmy Choos and her hair was styled with curls by Faye Murray.

Karen’s 6 bridesmaids wore pretty gowns from a combination of Hayley Paige and Debenhams and the groom’s party wore suits in a midnight blue shade from Hackett.

Jewel Coloured Flowers

Harper Partner Sonning Flowers created stunning bouquets and displays for the summer wedding, following a jewel combination of colours. A combination of gerbera’s, Lisanthus, roses, peonies and hydrangea were used throughout Botleys Mansion and the pretty bouquets carried by the bridal party. Tall martini glasses featuring vibrant purples, pinks and greens looked fabulous on the round reception tables and the little bridesmaids carried wands with a magenta pink flower attached to it, as they walked down the aisle.
