Jemma and Ben’s Wedding at Cain Manor

An October Wednesday Wedding at Cain Manor for Jemma and Ben

Jemma and Ben had been together for 13 years before Ben thought of the cutest way to propose.

One Saturday morning at home, Ben tied a note around their dog’s collar and had him jump up on to the sofa. The note had been written by the couple’s daughter and it read “Will You Marry Our Daddy” – when Jemma looked up, her daughter was holding a ring. Everything at that moment in time was perfect and there’s no way Jemma was going to refuse.

The couple didn’t want too much longer before tying the knot, and secured a wedding date for a year down the line.

Booking Cain Manor

Jemma and Ben commenced their search for the perfect wedding venue online at home and came across a handful they liked the look of. Two of the venues on their shortlist were part of the Harper Wedding Venues group and in October and November 2017 the couple visited both Cain Manor and Botleys Mansion a week apart, to see which felt right for them. On this occasion, the character and setting of Cain Manor outshone any other venue and the couple booked a date that fell with in half-term. Jemma and Ben booked Wednesday October 24th to celebrate their marriage and found the online planner provided by The Harper Team “very very helpful”.

The Bridal Party

Jemma had 4 bridesmaids; her sister, 2 sister-in-laws and her daughter.

The girls all wore beautiful beaded dusky blue dresses from ASOS. The groom wore a tailor made 3-piece suite from Moss Bross and the Groom’s Party wore smart suits from NEXT.

Jemma wanted to feel comfortable on her wedding day and therefore based her wedding dress choice on how she felt. Her wedding dress of choice was the stunning ‘Summer’ designed by Heidi Hudson found at Wed2Be. The beautiful lace gown featured cap-sleeves and an open back – just perfect for an October wedding. She teamed her gown up with white flats from Vera Wang; a local hair dresser and a friend of Jemma’s did her hair and makeup.

Perfect Wedding Flowers

Jemma and Ben hired Harper Partner Sonning Flowers to organise a stunning selection of floral décor for their country house wedding venue, Cain Manor.

A combination of succulents teamed with eucalyptus leaves, ivory roses and lashings of foliage were used in the bridal bouquet and gorgeous arrangements were created for the aisle and registrar table in The Music Room.

The Big Day: Wednesday 24th October, 2018

Jemma and Ben booked a 1pm ceremony at Cain Manor, but were able to enter the venue from 11am in order to prepare and look their best. Ben and his best men got ready in the Stable Block whilst Jemma and her best girls enjoyed the spacious, beamed bridal suite.

Jemma walked down the aisle to ‘Kissing You’ by Des’ree and her father proudly gave her away. The romantic ceremony lasted around 30 minutes and after the bride and groom were pronounced husband and wife, the couple and their 80 guests celebrated with fizz in The Library as the spacious Music Room was transformed to host a delightful wedding banquet. Harper Partner, Ben Williams, from Unbelievable Magic performed wonderful tricks for excited guests as they mingled and enjoyed the beautiful country setting of Cain Manor.

The newlywed couple cut through a Strawberry and Champagne flavoured wedding cake designed by Jen’s Bakery. The three tier, semi-naked wedding cake looked wonderful under the twinkling fairy lights at Cain Manor and was distributed to guests along with the evening buffet. A further 20 friends were invited to celebrate with the bride and groom later in the evening and a band called ‘Dance Off’ kept the oak floor full all evening. The night was kick started with the first dance to the tune of ‘Baby I’m Your’s’ by The Arctic Monkeys and the newlywed couple jet-set off on their honeymoon to the Maldives shortly after the big day.
