A Fun and Relaxed Barn Style Summer Wedding

India and Tom viewed 8 wedding venues before falling in love with Cain Manor; their romantic summer wedding took place on 29th July, 2016

The Proposal

Tom and India met when they were both in 6th form and made their exciting relationship official at the house party of a friend.

Over 7 years, the couple became close and decided to take their relationship to the next level by purchasing a house together. Much to India’s surprise, on the day the couple got the keys to their new house, another exciting event was just about to happen. Whilst walking to their new front door, Tom ran ahead a little and bent down on one knee, before proposing to the love of his life. India was so surprised with Tom’s romantic proposal that it actually took her about 20 minutes to finally say YES; it turned out to be the most magical day ever.
Tom had chosen the most perfect engagement ring for his bride-to-be, India, and after a year and a half of planning, the couple tied the knot at Harper’s Cain Manor, located on the border of Surrey and Hampshire.

Finding the Wedding Dress

India had visions of what her dream wedding dress looked like before she headed to a handful of bridalwear shops; nothing fussy – lots of lace! She ended up trying on around 10 different gowns, and fell in love with a design by Pronovias – but wanted to add her own personal touch to the dress. The gown India had chosen was a strapless gown, but as she’d always wanted to wear a dress with lace sleeves, she had these added, in the same lace that covered the gown – it was perfect!
Instead of teaming her gorgeous lace wedding dress up with a pair of traditional wedding heels, India chose to wear a comfortable pair of Converse wedding shoes throughout the day and night. She hired Kelly Elkin to style her hair on the big day and opted to wear her hair down, with big, loose curles; she didn’t want to look too different from her everyday style.

Choosing the Perfect Country House Wedding Venue

India and Tom viewed 8 wedding venues on their hunt for perfection.

When they had their viewing at Cain Manor they fell in love with the homely feel and the simplicity of the barn venue. They loved the beams and the fact that they could make Cain Manor their home for the day.
The couple, and India’s father, loved using the online planner to add extra items to their wedding day. They were able to see instant adjustments made to their budget and they loved the fact that they could contact their wedding planning manager to ask silly questions whenever they felt the need.

The Big Day: 29th July, 2016

The couple booked a Friday, civil ceremony wedding at Cain Manor and invited 74 day-time guests to celebrate with them. Their wedding day was decorated with an ivory, grey and green colour scheme and the bride walked down the aisle on the arm of her father to the sounds of the Piano version of ‘All of Me’ by Richard Sully.

After their romantic vows, the exchange of rings, their first kiss as husband and wife, India and Tom headed back down the aisle celebrate their marriage with friends and family in The Library and out on the patio. Giant garden games had been laid out to entertain guests and the newlywed couple headed off with their photographer, David Nash, to have some beautiful wedding photography taken around Cain Manor’s incredible grounds.
The day was decorated with beautiful floral designs created by Sonning Flowers. India had opted for an array of white and green shades, with lots of hydrangea and roses. Tom wore a small white rose in his buttonhole and two, pedestals stood tall at the front of The Music room, for the ceremony; fairy lights and foliage down the beams added that extra touch of rustic glam. For the reception tables, white hydrangea stood in vases of different heights and the tables were named after different trees.
For their wedding banquet, the couple had pre-selected a menu of: Onion tart to start, a roast chicken main and Harper’s delicous sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The couple had ordered a light green, four tiered wedding cake with white laced detail from Harper which featured a variety of different flavours consisting of red velvet, chocolate, coffee cake and lemon. ‘Mr & Mrs’ rock style sweets were spread over each table for guests to enjoy. India and Tom also placed signs on each table, asking guest to use the hashtag #tomandindia if there were posting images of their wedding celebration on to social media.
An additional 10 guests were invited to the evening reception and the couple danced their first dance to ‘I Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You’ by Andy Williams. The dance floor was then full, with music provided by the Harper DJ.
Before the end of the night, India tossed her bouquet to her single friends – but her uncle caught it and therefore a re-throw had to take place; it was all very funny!

The Bridal Party

India had two adult bridesmaids and one flower girl to support her down the aisle. Her university friend Amila and Tom’s friend Rebecca wore long, light grey gowns and the flower girl, Olivia, wore white. The girls went dress shopping to Wimbledon and were delighted to find gowns that everyone approved of.
Tom and his best man Matt, a friend since secondary school, both wore bright blue wedding suits that had been bought from M&S.

The Honeymoon

Instead of having a traditional gift list, India and Tom had asked their guests for money, to contribute towards their honeymoon. They went on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Sardinia, followed by a romantic week cruising the Mediterranean.
India and Tom commented: “We couldn’t have dreamed of a better day. Everything ran so smoothly and we wish we could do it all again, especially to visit Cain Manor again. Cain manor is a beautiful venue and it was everything we wanted. We also want to thank Ian for helping everything run so smoothly.”
