Charlotte and Ben’s wedding at Botleys Mansion

Finding the venue

After spotting Botleys Mansion in a magazine, Charlotte and Ben looked at the venue online and instantly pictured themselves getting married at the mansion. Once home from their holiday, where they got engaged, they visited the venue in person and knew it was the one for them. With a green colour scheme in mind, and the fact that the ceremony room was called ‘The Green Room’, it seemed a perfect match.

The inspiration

From the start, Charlotte and Ben wanted a wedding that was elegant, classic, and reflected the fact that both their favourite colour is green. Not to mention, Charlotte’s engagement ring is emerald. Naturally, they opted for green bridesmaid’s dresses, (as well as green silk pyjamas for the bridal prep photos), whilst the groom’s party was dressed in black tie.

Choosing the suppliers

The couple wanted to feel confident in their choice of suppliers, so decided to go with recommendations from friends and family, including the balloon décor, photographer and videographer. Although only typically a hobby, Charlotte’s sister made the wedding cake as a wedding gift to the couple, which really meant a lot to them both.

“My best tip would be to find suppliers through recommendations or through Botleys’ preferred suppliers, as you will be in safe hands.” – Charlotte

Acrylic signage

After exploring the idea of acrylic signage, suggested by Ben, Charlotte quickly became obsessed with the idea, buying anything acrylic, including a welcome sign and card box. Acrylic coasters placed on the banqueting tables acted as both a place name and a wedding favour, alongside a sample of perfume in an organza bag for each guest to take away. Something a little different to anything the couple had seen before at previous weddings.

Wedding outfits

Charlotte brought her wedding dress from Debbie Rees Bridal, a boutique close to home. After trying on a number of styles, Charlotte kept going back to the second dress she tried on. It was the only one she put on and thought “oh yes, I like this!”. Trying the dress on for the second time, the song she had planned to walk down the aisle to started to play in the store, and it felt as if it was meant to be. Meanwhile Ben wanted to make sure he stood out from the Grooms party, so opted to have a velvet jacket made to measure.

The planning

The couple found planning the wedding enjoyable and fun. Charlotte’s sister was often on hand to find things the couple were looking for, which really helped and made the experience even more special. Using excel spreadsheets, alongside their online Planners, gave the couple a place to keep track of all their ideas, and kept them organised and on top of their to-do list.

Looking back

Although the moment Charlotte was most nervous about, walking down the aisle towards Ben for the first time was the most memorable moment of the day, along with saying their vows, before being pronounced Husband and Wife.

Even though Charlotte and Ben say, “it went so quickly”, they had the best day, and their ideas were brought to life by their wonderful suppliers and the team at Botleys Mansion.

“We can’t thank everyone at Botleys enough. The staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond on the day. All our guests commented on how stunning the venue was, how amazing the food was but also how incredible the staff was.”
