I’ve been a full time professional photographer since 1999. I’ve always loved photographing people. I shoot 25 to 30 weddings a year and I still enjoy shooting natural child and family portraits too. Weddings are about families and relationships so it’s a natural fit!
My style is creative reportage with an artistic edge I’m told.
I allow the day to flow naturally, capturing flattering yet natural images but I’m always ready to help and direct when required. I’m observant but unobtrusive. Some couples do have very specific idea about certain shots they want to create and I’m always happy to help them achieve that.

I use Nikon D810’s with a range of Nikon lenses. I sometimes use a reflector and flash very sparingly as I love natural light.
I shoot in colour and convert to black and white. This means there is a nice mixture but there’s always the option to have the colour version of any image.
I try to keep this simple. All couples will have all the edited and prepared images on a USB as well as a password protected online gallery to share with family and friends. I also have a range of wedding albums to choose.
If couples wish to have an engagement shoot this can easily be arranged, either at my studio and gardens or on location or indeed at their chosen Harper wedding venue.
Two weeks after the wedding the gallery will be ready for the couple to view and the password protected online gallery will be available for the couple to share with family and friends and the couple will also get the edited high resolution images at this time too.
Couples generally book me a year in advance but this varies and depends on my availability.
I best to meet couples to discuss their requirements and show them all the examples I can offer them. This is also successfully done via Skype sometimes too. I like to understand the type of wedding they’re planning and getting a sense of the family dynamics is also important. I always ask for an itinerary two weeks prior to the wedding, a list of group shots and the names of key people.
Couples feel less constrained by tradition these days so they can make their wedding day very personal. Even so, I find most couples still love a lot of the traditions which they often combine with their own twist!
Midweek weddings and winter weddings are becoming more popular.
I think it’s important to feel at ease with your chosen photographer and to feel that he or she understands what you want and listens to you. It’s important to choose someone who has lots of experience and can cope with any situation and still produce high quality images. I would want to see a range of different albums and whole weddings, not just snap shots of several weddings.
