I have been playing in String Quartets providing background music etc for weddings for nearly 40 years (help!). The current version of the quartet has been together 15 years. The players are all professional freelance musicians with a wide range of experience but the quartet is a core commitment for us all.
The range of the music we play is unique. We has the largest repertoire of any similar group (approx. 1400 pieces and growing) which means we can cater for any and every taste.
Yes – there is a quartet uniform/co-ordinated dress.
Standard booking is 3 hours to cover pre-ceremony / ceremony / reception drinks up to the beginning of the wedding breakfast. Within that time we take one short break.
We occasionally give standard concerts and/or play at public events but this is not a regular or predictable event. The bulk of our performances are at private functions, which other couples cannot attend.
Yes – it’s a standard/regular feature of pretty much any wedding. The music is bespoke and chosen from the repertoire by the couple. As much of the music is arranged especially for the quartet (by me) we are able to play just about anything. There is a charge to arrange a piece especially for a wedding.
Outdoor weddings and a preference for less Classical music and more contemporary pop arranged for quartet.
