Tell us a bit about yourself?

Our photography journey started when we first began dating. We both shared a passion for photography and this was a huge part of our story together as well as now our business. Having always both had a love for photography and people, shooting weddings was the ideal match for us and after photographing our first wedding everything fell into place and bookings started coming in. So in 2015 when we got married ourselves we decided to make the jump into a new exciting chapter of our lives. Since then we have photographed weddings and elopements all over the UK and around the world and have loved every second of meeting our awesome couples and capturing their memories.

We are both adventurers at heart and love the outdoors which very much comes across in our photography style too! In our spare time you will find us hiking mountains, wild swimming and going on adventures in our campervan which often turns into a photoshoot of some sort!

How would you describe your wedding photography style and what makes you unique?

We have a natural documentary style, capturing your day as it unfolds with a mix of creative imagery. Our goal is to tell a story through our images that evokes emotion and captures real memories, not just posed ones.

We believe that every couple and venue is unique and deserve to be captured in their own way. We use this uniqueness to guide and shape our work around the people and environment around us rather than applying a particular fixed style to every occasion.

We often get referred to as ‘The Light Chasers’ as we always strive to give our couples the very best from their images and will hunt out the most beautiful lighting for them. But more than our passion for pretty landscapes & golden sunsets is our love for people. We are strong believers in getting to know our couples and helping them to feel one hundred percent themselves infront of the camera. We want to capture the tears, the belly laughs and everything in between. Building true friendships with our couples and making an effort with their guests is our secret behind our style!

How would you describe your working style?

On the wedding day, we try to be as non-intrusive as possible. I wouldn’t say we are a ‘fly on the wall’ but instead we try to blend in with your guests and be friendly faces around at your wedding. We have always found this non-intrusive style the best way to capture those beautiful ‘in the moment’ photos.

When it comes to the formal groups and couple photos we will take a lead on this part and will give as much guidance as you need to feel as at ease as possible for these. Generally we will get a bridesmaid or groomsmen to help with the group photos so that these go as smoothly as possible without too much standing around.

When it comes to the couple photos, it’s important for us to capture you as a couple. We will always be adaptable with our approach to fit with your personality so please don’t worry if you are shy in front of the camera. Our style is very natural and all the laugher you see in our photos is completely authentic.

Do you shoot digitally or with film? Or both?

We shoot on a digital medium but incorporate a process to the development of all of our images to instill a unique organic and ‘filmic look’.

What type of equipment do you use?

We work with DSLR and mirrorless type cameras to capture the photos we take. We use a mix of lenses that we have selected for their individual characteristics over the years to craft the aesthetic of our images.

Do you shoot in colour and black and white?

I love the mix of both! We always capture in colour but change some photos into black and white when editing as sometimes you can tell more of a story in black and white. We edit to what we think will showcase your day and that particular moment in the best possible way. Generally if we have included a black and white photo, we will put a similar colour version in so that you have both but we don’t duplicate the photo as we want every single photo in the album to sing for itself.

What can you offer couples? Can they customise the package with you?

All of our packages include 10 hours of coverage which covers from the morning preparations until just after the first dance. You can however add as many hours as you like but we personally find 10 is the perfect fit to capture all the best moments from the day. We offer photography only packages as well as a photography and video package for you to choose from. You have the option to book just one of us if you are having an intimate wedding or you can have us both there for the day so that we can capture extra angles and more candid photos throughout the day too. We always try to be as flexible as possible with our couples and can tailor a package for them to fit around what they are looking for. Nothing is a silly question so if you have an idea in your head – you should definitely ask us!

Do you include an engagement shoot?

Yes! We absolutely love engagement sessions as they are the perfect way for us to get to know our couples ahead of the wedding day as it will feel like we already know each other when we arrive on the morning of the wedding. We offer engagement shoots in locations all across the UK whether you are wanting a close by the venture or make a weekend away out of it to create some special memories at the same time (our visiiotn for our engagement shoots is that they feel more like a fun date and experience together rather than a ‘just’ a photoshoot).

How long after the wedding will the couple receive their proofs?

We always like to send a sneak peek in the first week or so of the wedding day so that our couples receive a lovely surprise while they are on their honeymoon. It also means that our couples can get started on thank you cards straight away and have some beautiful photos to post on insta. They will then receive their full gallery approximately 8-10 weeks after the wedding day but if they are ready sooner then we will of course get them sent over via an online viewing gallery and also on a memory stick.

How far in advance should couples book you?

The earlier the better! But as a guide, our couples usually book around 1.5 – 2 years in advance. For couples hoping to get married on a Friday/Saturday during the Spring/Summer, I would recommend getting in touch before your date is set in stone so that we can compare diaries with the potential dates that your venue has given you and find a match.

What information do you need from the couple before the wedding day?

We have a pre-wedding consultation together before the wedding to get to know each other and go over the details of the day. We want to know what you are most excited about for your wedding so that we can get excited with you and photograph your day the way you imagined!

We also have a questionnaire that we send out to our couples which has a mix of ‘getting to know you’ questions as well as running through the details and logistics of the day.

We love getting to know our couples and building relationships with them before the day so that when we turn up in the morning, it feels as though you are with friends. This really helps everyone feel more relaxed and at ease which will really come through in the photos. We offer engagement shoots for our couples as a great way to meet and get to know each other before the wedding day.

What are you favourite trends?

My answer to this will change on a weekly basis as I love new innovative ideas and things I’ve not seen at a wedding before. At the moment I am loving the burnt orange colour scheme and dried flowers as I am a big lover of warm tones. I am also really liking the champagne or white coloured bridesmaid dresses we’ve seen this year and I think they will be sticking around into next year too! In terms of photos, I am loving a good ‘champagne pop’ photo at the moment as a fun thing to do with your bridesmaids and groomsmen to get some hilarious candid photos!

If you were getting married, how would you choose your wedding photographer?

Firstly I would stalk their photos and try to find someone whose work I absolutely fall in love with but something that would be just as important to me is finding someone I connect with. Your photographer will be with you from the start of the day right up until the evening so finding someone you get on with and feel comfortable around is so important. My ideal would be to find a photographer who I could imagine being a friend, the chances are if you get on super well with your photographer then so will all of your guests too and this will really help them blend in with your day and get some amazing candid moments of you and your guests.

For me having a good relationship is just so important but I would also say it’s a must to ask the photographer you’re enquiring with if you could see a full gallery of thiers as it’s so helpful to see how they capture different parts of the day and not just the ‘instagram shots!’

What are you expecting see more mainstream/more common in the next year or two?

Everyone has heard the phrase ‘the day goes by so quick’ so organising a dinner party or BBQ the night before and breakfast together the following day I think will become more popular. Eventually I think once this becomes more common I think this will go one step further and couples will take the approach of destination weddings and organise more elaborate night before parties and day after activities.
