I’m a family man, based in Guildford. I love music, sport and of course photography and filmmaking. I’m a natural observer, a bit of a quiet guy sometimes. I’m hard working, I run for my shots if needed, and I get super excited when a wedding gallery or film is ready and I can finally send it to the couple.
I need to answer this question in two parts. Firstly, I shoot the ceremony and the speeches with a complex system of mini cameras (at least four) that I can place almost anywhere in the room (barely noticeable). This allows me to produce engaging multi-cam edits, showing everything as it happened (One minute on the day equals one minute of the video). This is very truthful documentary coverage – nothing is doctored. The second part however is the highlight video to which I have a very different approach. I use all the advantages of a non-linear edit, including playing audio from the speeches while the bride is getting ready, playing the audio of the vows while the couple is walking through a rain of confetti, using techniques such as slow-motion, inserting little guest messages and – something not many videographers do – interviewing the bride and groom in the morning and evening (if they wish). This is a very creative process and I’m always excited to show my films to my couples.
I shoot alone. I’m very fast and very quiet. I observe and shoot – when people notice me I usually already have in camera what I need.
I use Sony A1 cameras with a collection of the finest prime lenses. I also use several mini-cameras (on microphone stands – not tripods) to shoot the ceremony and the speeches from many different angles. For audio I have a whole set of wireless mini microphones to clip onto the celebrant, groom, lecterns or even handheld microphones that belong to the venue.
Usually HD, but I’m more than happy to produce in 4k at no extra charge.
I’m one of the few shooters that offer photography and videography as ONE package. Please get in touch and I will show you how that works and what it looks like. It means on the day. I also offer live streaming.
My packages do not have any time limit. So I’ll be there from whenever you feel comfortable having me around until the end of the party.
The ceremony video will be as long as the ceremony was (1:1 coverage). The same applies to the speeches, so you will have a complete recording of the speeches as well. The highlight video is typically about 10-15mins. When I record guest messages I usually export these separately as another video, so you can hear what everybody has said. If you like I can keep my cameras running for the complete first dance or any games etc. All of this is included in your package.
On average I get booked about one year in advance.
The week before the wedding I’d like to have a long Zoom call with the couple to discuss the wedding almost minute-by-minute. We go through every little detail so on the day we have a clear plan plus a backup plan plus a backup plan of the backup plan.
Trends come and go but memories of emotions stay forever. I’m not following any wedding trends at all – they will look dated in just a few years time anyways. Let’s keep it real, honest and timeless.
I expect that more and more photographers will start offering video as well. At the moment I’m one of very few shooters who offer both.
