Rebecca and Tom’s Wedding at Cain Manor

Lavender and Love at Cain Manor

Rebecca and Tom met at an Arts Marketing Association Conference and were together for 5 years before going on a holiday that would change their futures forever.

The couple were staying near Lake Garda and Tom had been insistent that the couple go for a hike so that they could see the best views possible. Rebecca (who was more interested in drinking Aperol Spritz) went along for the hike but was relieved when they reached the top of the mountain to rest on a bench. She was lost for words when Tom revealed the most incredible engagement ring, proposing with the most stunning backdrop of Lake Garda behind them. Rebecca, who fell instantly in love with her diamond engagement ring accepted Tom’s proposal and the couple spent the next 18 months planning their wedding and future life together.

Booking a Barn Wedding Venue

The wedding planning couple researched local barn wedding venues online before stumbling across Cain Manor.

They knew they’d have a guest list of approximately 80 guests, and with a maximum day capacity of 123, Cain Manor felt perfect. The couple visited 4 different wedding venues in person but really loved how Cain Manor offered 24-hour exclusivity with accommodation, as well as the helpful online planner. The couple first visited Cain Manor in June 2016 and booked their wedding for September 2017, giving them plenty of time to plan and organise their rustic barn wedding celebration.

Summer Wedding Plans and Preparations

Rebecca didn’t want a fussy wedding dress but was sure that she wanted to wear something utterly fabulous as she said ‘I do’ to the man of her dreams. She ventured up to the Caroline Castigliano boutique in Knightsbridge and after trying on 8 different styles, ordered a truly elegant, classic ballgown style wedding dress featuring a sweetheart neckline and a lovely long train. A band around the waist added a touch of sparkle to Rebecca’s bridal look and she teamed her gown up with a pair of blue wedding shoes and a pretty veil. Her hair was styled at Ruby Mane Salon and her makeup was done by Ellky May.

The bride chose friends Joanne and Katy to be bridesmaids and the trio spent the day shopping for dresses in London. Rebecca and Tom’s wedding followed a lavender colour theme, and, after shopping around, the girls found perfect lavender coloured dresses with an asymmetrical neckline from bridesmaid specialists Dessy.

The groom, Tom, bought a pale grey 3-piece suit from John Lewis and his grooms party wore suits from Moss Bros.

The Big Day: 9thSeptember, 2017

Rebecca arrived at Cain Manor at 11am on the morning of her wedding, giving her plenty of time to prepare before the ceremony at 3:30pm.

The Music Room was beautifully decorated ahead of the ceremony and featured twinkly fairy lights, flowers and hurricane vases to create a romantic feel. Rebecca’s father walked her down the aisle towards Tom, to the sounds of a song called ‘Spanish Romance’ played on a Spanish guitar. The couple were delighted to see each other and a guest list of 82 witnessed their very special vows.

The sun was shining bright after the ceremony so the newlywed couple along with their guests were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds, gardens and far-reaching views across Surrey’s Golden Valley. After several memorable photographs with friends, the bridal party and as a couple, the bride, groom and guests were asked to take their seats at the wedding banquet. The couple created a simple but stunning table plan by standing pots on a rustic step-ladder with sticks featuring the number of each table and guest names. It fitted in with the lavender wedding theme perfectly.

Wedding reception tables were decorated with pots of fragrant herbs, olive and rosemary oil. Small bottles of olive oil were given as favours and an advice card was placed at each setting for guests to fill out and add to the couples’ guest book.

Rebecca’s mother made a stunning three tier wedding cake for the couple. Flavours included fruit, chocolate and lemon poppy seed and it was decorated with olive branches and a touch of lavender.

During the evening, the couple had hired a band called ‘The Get Down’, who played ‘It Had To Be You’ from the hit movie When Harry Met Sally, as the first dance song. The rest of the wedding party then danced their way around The Music Room and enjoyed an evening buffet consisting of British cheeses, a variety of breads, biscuits and fresh fruit.

The newlyweds celebrated their marriage by spending two weeks in The Seychelles, spending a week on Praslin and a week on Denis Private Island. It was the perfect end to their perfect wedding.

The Wedding Flowers

Rebecca and Tom hired Jodie Sutch from The Little Violet Florist to take care of all their floral arrangements. As a lavender colour scheme ran throughout the day, it was obvious that lavender should be featured as frequently as possible. The bride had lavender in her bouquet and the groom wore lavender on his button hole. Lavender also featured on the registrars table, the table plan, on the cake, in pots on reception tables and on chairs down the aisle in The Music Room. When the wedding was over, Rebecca dried her bouquet and now has it hanging as a memory at home.
