Tell us a little about yourself.

Appleyard:
As a quintessentially British florist, Appleyard aims to be a wedding floral brand famous for excellence in professionalism and creativity. With experienced specialists we pride ourselves on our florists’ expertise, craftsmanship, and attention to detail; promising a local service with world class quality.

Led by our Head Florist, Nicola, with over 24 years experience including positions as the in-house florist at Claridge’s and The Dorchester, as well as providing flowers for royalty and A-list celebrities – you can rest assured your flowers are in the safest of hands. Every step of the way our ultimate goal is to deliver your bespoke wedding flowers to accentuate your venue, your colours, your themes and your design ideas to provide the very best in floral design and the perfect setting for your special day.

How would you describe your floristry/design style and what makes you unique?

At Appleyard, every couple is unique – each design style is tailored to your ideas and preferences, whether that is very compact and neat or wild and whimsical. We have no limits and can turn our hands to whatever style suits the couple, the season and the venue.

When should a couple book you?

As soon as possible, a florist diary can fill up just as quickly as a venue.

How would you describe your working style? Do you only focus on one wedding at a time or do you have a team of florists working on multiple events?

We like to give couples confidence and our full attention so we only like to book one wedding per date, per team, hence why our dairies get booked up fast. Our teams are capable of taking on more but the team assigned to the couple will only focus on one event on a specific date.

What information do you need from the couple before the wedding day?

Initially we would require contact details, wedding date and time, venues, a brief description of the style, items required and colours etc. Then during our consultation we will take all the information we require for the floral requirements…preferred flowers, quantities, design suggestions etc. A consultation will usually take 30-60 minutes.

Do you offer specific packages or is it all bespoke?

Both – we have a gorgeous wedding collection with pre-designed packages at https://www.appleyardflowers.com/wedding-flowers.
We also offer a bespoke service specifically tailored to meet your floral favourites, colour scheme, budget and design ideas.

What are you expecting to see more mainstream/more common in the next year or two?

I think we will see one/two types of flower bouquets with minimal foliage. Muted/dusky colours or white/ivorys. Bouquets won’t be too large so they don’t take away from the dress. Similarly, in the venues, the use of candles in glass and various height of flowers

If you were getting married, what would be your floral must-haves?

I love classic whites, ivory and greens, lots of flowers on mass, different heights and textures and beautiful fragrance as well. I’d want my guests to be WOWed by how much flowers can transform a room, through sight, scents and touch.

What is your favourite flower and why?

This is a hard one for a florist as it changes seasonally….

Spring…. Stocks and sweet peas – all have beautiful fragrance

Summer….Hydrangea and Peonies – Great blousy impact flowers and also scent

Autumn….Rustic hydrangea and seasonal foliages and berries, bringing the Autumn cosy feeling inside.

Winter….Ranunculus and Hellebore – delicate flower heads and muted tones
