A White Wedding at Botleys Mansion

Nicola and Craig met in a local night club and spent the next 6 years getting to know each other, each other’s families and planning a future together.

On the weekend of their 6 year anniversary, just after Christmas, Craig planned a surprise for Nicola. He proposed to Nicola who was still in her pyjamas with a ring he’d chosen himself, followed by a full day out in London to celebrate. The couple had an unforgettable day in London and enjoyed a Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea at the Sanderson followed by dinner at Nobu with drinks and dancing to follow. It was the perfect proposal and the couple spent the following two and a half years planning their romantic, super luxurious wedding.

Finding a White Wedding Venue

Nicola and Craig viewed only two wedding venues, after searching in Google for the term ‘white wedding venue’. An image of the Atrium at Botleys Mansion popped up and Nicola instantly fell in love. The couple visited one venue in the morning and Botleys Mansion in the afternoon one of a weekend and there was no comparison between the two venues. Nicola had been told by her friends that she’d just know when she’d found the right venue.

From the moment the elegant gates opened up for the couple at the entrance to Botleys Mansion, the engaged couple started to get excited. The sweeping driveway, the entrance hall, and the ceremony room were all perfect, but when Nicola caught a glimpse of the Atrium on her way to the loo, she knew she had to get married at Botleys Mansion.

The couple were able to stay on top of their wedding plans with ease, via Harper’s proprietary online wedding planner. They were able to control their budget, payments and guest numbers, as well as having the flexibility to ask Harper’s Wedding Planning Team questions via the online messaging system, whenever they needed to.

White Wedding Flowers

Nicola and Craig met the team at Sonning Flowers on one of their Wedding Planning Wednesday meetings at Botleys Mansion.

The couple expressed the style of wedding that they wanted, and Sonning Flowers shared their ideas on what they thought could work at the stylish Mansion wedding venue in Surrey. The bridal bouquet consisted of all white peonies with white trailing ribbon. The groom and his party wore white avalanche rose button holes and tall cylinder vases with candles lined the aisle in The Green Room for the wedding ceremony. An acrylic order of the day was placed in the entrance hall at Botleys Mansion, surrounded by white hydrangea in tall cylinder vases as well as flickering candles. Two white floral urns sat at the top of the grand stone staircase at the entrance to the glamorous wedding venue. Wedding reception tables, the stair case leading down to the Atrium and the dessert station and the tiered wedding cake were also decorated with a combination of beautiful white florals.

The Big Day: Thursday 7th June, 2018

Nicola and her bridesmaids arrived at Botleys Mansion at 11am, giving them three hours to prepare for the 2pm ceremony in The Green Room. Everyone enjoyed getting ready in the spacious bridal suite and the girls headed downstairs after Nicola’s last selfie as a single gal.

90 wedding guests waited in the elegant Green Room for the arrival of the bride, who walked down the white carpet aisle on the arm of her father to the sounds of the acoustic version of ‘My Love’ by Jess Glynne. Craig was delighted to see his bride walk down the aisle and the couple exchanged rings ahead of signing the register.

There’s plenty of room to enjoy celebratory drinks and canapés at Botleys Mansion, and as the weather was nice on the June Thursday, the wedding party were all able to head outside for the confetti shot and posh refreshments.

Guests were called into the Atrium and the bride and groom made their grand entrance down the florally decorated staircase after a romantic kiss at the top. Reception tables were elegantly decorated with accessories hired in by the bride and groom. 3 Cylinder vases, all of different heights, were placed on each table along with 3 candle holders an acrylic menu and acrylic table numbers. The couple had planned a clean, modern look for their wedding reception. Personalised glass bell jars sat on top of charger plates with two flavoured macaroons custom made to fit inside, as wedding favours. During the evening, a dessert table was unveiled featuring delicious sweet treats for guests to enjoy throughout the night.

A further 30 guests were invited to join in with evening festivities and after dinner, the couple cut through their wonderful white wedding cake and danced their first dance to a song which Nicola had planned to play for Craig as a surprise. Craig’s face lit up when ‘So in to You’ by Childish Gambino was played. The dance floor was full as a Motown style soul band called The Distractions played upbeat music throughout the night.

The couple had purchased wedding insurance through Debenhams and asked for money for their honeymoon instead of opening a traditional wedding gift list. The newlyweds went on a mini-moon to Cornwall just after their June marriage, but have planned a special trip to Dubai and the Maldives for the future. They also had their day filmed by The Short Film Company, so they are able to re-live their perfect wedding day at Botleys Mansion over and over again in the future.
