Gemma and Russell’s Wedding at Botleys Mansion

August Nuptials at Botleys Mansion

Gemma and Russell met by chance, when she was walking out of a pub and he was walking in. Russell decided to stay and buy Gemma a drink and in no time the couple had fallen in love.

6 months after meeting, the couple ventured to Turkey on their first holiday together. Gemma had fallen asleep by the pool and Russell decided to browse around the hotel’s jewellery boutique. He bought a stunning ring there and then, and proposed to Gemma at dinner that very night. It was a very unexpected, romantic moment. As their romance and engagement had been a whirlwind, the couple decided to wait 2.5 years before tying the knot.

Choosing a Memorable Wedding Date

Gemma and Russell took their time when it came to finding the most perfect venue to host their dream day and started to search for appropriate locations online. To be absolutely sure that they were making the right decision, the couple visited 15 venues in total but decided that Botleys Mansion was ‘the one’. The couple felt really comfortable with the service they received from The Harper Team during their visit of Botleys Mansion and were excited to choose a date that they felt would be easily remembered. 18/08/18 was booked and the couple started making notes of their wedding wishes and dreams in their online wedding planner – an online tool provided by The Harper Team to keep the run up to a wedding day organised.

The Bridal Party

Gemma wanted a simple yet romantic wedding dress to wear to her August wedding at Botleys Mansion, and even though she tried on 7 different designs, the gown she ended up buying was the first dress she picked off the rail. The Karen Willis Holmes design was a classic; it was super romantic and ruffled, with elegant features. The bride teamed her dress up with a pair of Jimmy Choo wedding shoes and had her hair put up in a stylish bun to complete the ultimate bridal look.

The bride chose 7 close friends and family members to be bridesmaids, 2 nieces as flower girls and her son to be the page boy. The bridesmaids wore blush pink, floor length, cold shoulder gowns from Lipsy and the flower girls wore ivory dresses from a small boutique in Essex. The groom, his party, and the little pageboy wore traditional black wedding suits with waistcoats, from Anthony Formal Wear in Billericay.

The Big Day: Saturday 18th August, 2018

Gemma, her family, and bridal party arrived at Botleys Mansion at 11am and started getting ready in the bridal suite on the Saturday morning.

The florist, W Flowers, also arrived at 11am to start setting up a truly impressive display of floral décor throughout the Mansion and on both internal and external staircases. As the ceremony was about to commence, a wonderful gospel choir prepared to sing during the ceremony.

Wedding guests walked up the grand stair case at Botleys Mansion ahead of the 3pm ceremony which took place in The Green Room. The page boy and a flower girl walked down the aisle first and the bride walked down the aisle at 3pm on the arm of her father, to Songbird by Eva Cassidy. After the ‘I dos’ and a kiss to seal the deal, the newlyweds walked back down the aisle and out to the front of Botleys Mansion where they were showered with confetti by their 130 guests. Their wedding photographer Bill Sykes took some wonderful photographs of the couple and their guests, while a brigade of banqueting chefs were busy preparing an exquisite three course meal for the wedding party. Beautiful white wedding balloons added a special touch to the venue decor and a cream coloured post box was placed in the elegant entrance to Botleys Mansion so that guests could post their cards and well wishes to the couple during the drinks reception.

The Atrium had been decorated perfectly with a combination of vases, candles and candelabra centerpieces. Napkins were rolled and tied with blush coloured ribbon and for wedding favours, the couple made a donation to St. Francis Hospice in memory of Russell’s nan and auntie.

After tea/coffee and truffles, the newlywed couple hit the dance floor. They’d hired a band and a DJ to entertain their guests throughout the night and enjoyed every moment of their mansion wedding.

Instead of buying presents from a high street wedding gift list, guests contributed money towards Gemma and Russell’s incredible honeymoon to the Maxx Royal Belek resort in Turkey.
