Emma and Arron’s Wedding at Cain Manor

An Easter Proposal

After meeting at work and falling in love instantly, Arron made the decision that he wanted to propose to Emma during the Easter weekend after 6 years of dating.

Arron knew he wanted to do something creative but wasn’t quite sure of how he wanted to do it. The morning before Easter, when the couple were home by themselves, Arron put the engagement ring that he had bought for Emma inside an Easter egg before handing it to her. After a lot of anticipation, Emma finally cracked the Easter egg open and when she looked back up she found Arron down on one knee.

The couple spent the next two years in the throes of wedding planning. Emma always knew she wanted a summer celebration and definitely needed plenty of time to plan.

Choosing a Summer Wedding Date

Emma and Arron created a shortlist of venues, after browsing online, and visited 4 in person before making a decision. The couple knew that they wanted a summer date so that they could rely on the weather, so outdoor space was an important factor when it came to finding the right wedding venue. The couple loved the outside space at Cain Manor, as well as The Music Room and the fact that they could have fairy lights hanging from above. Having bedrooms on site was also a huge bonus, as this meant that close friends and family could stay and enjoy the venue to the full. Once they had secured their July 2018 wedding date, Emma and Arron spent lots of time learning all about the proprietary online planner, offered to every Harper Wedding couple. “I loved the planner it put my mind at ease, and being an accountant, I loved seeing the total costs straight away and being able to keep an eye on the payments. The guest list and table arrangements were a dream to manage, I could keep moving people around and changing what they were eating effortlessly.” explained Emma.

The Bridal Party

Emma tried on around 5 different wedding dress styles before choosing a lacy fishtail gown embellished with sparkly diamantes.

The shape was really flattering and the back looked like a pretty butterfly, covered in glittery beads. Emma loved how this particular dress made her look and she loved how it glistened when she moved. Hair and makeup was done by Sarah Pearce on the big day.

When it came to the bridal party, Emma knew that she wanted to have her sister, Lucy, as her maid of honour as well as 5 other friends to escort her down the aisle as bridesmaids.
After she’d asked the girls to be her bridesmaids, the hunt for their dresses started. Emma eventually found some beautiful rose gold dresses by RenzRags on Etsy. Arron and his groomsmen found stylish navy suits at Moss Bros which featured striking peacock lining; teamed up with brown shoes, the guys looked great!

The Big Day: Saturday 14th July, 2018

Finally, after two years of planning, the big day came around. The bride woke up bright and early and prepared for her wedding at home, before heading over to Saint Mary’s Church in Frensham, Surrey for her 12:30pm marriage to Arron.

The couple hired a string quartet to play during the ceremony and the bride walked down the aisle on the arm of her father. After the ceremony, the newlywed couple were driven (by a friend) to Cain Manor in a Maserati, where they were greeted by The Harper Team and their 90 wedding guests. During their reception, the couple enjoyed spending their time mingling with all of their guests and taking photographs that will help them to remember the day forever.

Reception tables were named after race tracks after Arron’s love of car/bike racing, and were decorated with candelabras and flowers. Sparkly rose gold table runners added a touch of glam to The Music Room and a fairy light swag twinkled throughout the wedding breakfast and in to the evening. Guests were given a scratch card wedding favour but unfortunately there weren’t any big winners on the night.

Wedding Flowers

Emma and Arron hired Harper Partner Sonning Flowers to decorate their wedding venue with summery blooms. Emma’s bridal bouquet was a large tear drop design and the main floral theme of the day was pink roses, lilies and green foliage. Bridesmaids carried pretty hand-tied posies and the grooms party wore a single rose buttonhole.

Wedding Reception

The couple saw all of their dreams come true when they laid their eyes on their wedding cake. After, asking a family friend to design and make their cake for them, they decided to make it even more personalised by giving it a Lego theme due to Arron’s childhood nickname. Cake flavours consisted of lemon, chocolate and fruit.

A further 20 guests joined the newlywed couple at Cain Manor for evening festivities. The Harper DJ played ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran and asides from feasting on a hog roast, guests also indulged in a chocolate fountain between taking candid photographs in the Photo Booth.

Instead of a traditional high street gift list, Emma and Arron set up a honeymoon fund that they then used to treat themselves to a road trip around America. They started off in New York, then headed up to Niagra Falls in Canada. A flight took them to Las Vegas and from there they ventured to Los Angeles and San Diego. It as a busy, but brilliant trip!

Most memorable wedding moment from the bride: “I remember standing with Arron just before we walked out onto the balcony where all the guests were sat waiting below for the wedding breakfast and saying to each other ‘We did it!’”

Final comments from Emma: “It was the most perfect day, the weather, the venue, the food. I wouldn’t change anything it was just so perfect.”
