A Super Stylish Summer Wedding at Botleys Mansion for Thea and Sam

Thea and Sam planned a truly luxurious summer wedding at Botleys Mansion over 2 years. Read all about their perfect day…

About the Couple

Thea and Sam met at a Halloween party in 2006 when they were both studying at The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. The couple clicked instantly and Sam knew that he would marry Thea from the very first day that they’d met. Thea, on the other hand, needed a bit more convincing, but after three years of friendship she realised that she was in love with her best friend. The couple spent four years following each other around the country but then settled in London, both living and working in the West End.
Sam proposed to Thea whilst the couple were holidaying in the very glam city of St. Tropez. Sam popped the question (with Thea’s dream Tiffany engagement ring) after dinner in a lovely French restaurant and the couple then headed back to Thea’s parents house to pop a bottle of Champagne to celebrate! Newly engaged and super excited, Thea and Sam spent the next 2 years planning their fabulous wedding at Botleys Mansion in Surrey.

Thea's Stunning Wedding Dress

Thea’s wedding dress was the exact opposite of what she had envisioned wearing to her wedding. But, she saw this particular Rosa Clara design hanging across the room and it just stood out from the rest. The fabric was truly stunning; Thea had wanted a fabric that was interesting and the gown she chose had a beautiful texture to it. Thea said, “It’s true what they say – when you see ‘the one’, you just know!”
The bride accessorised with Ted Baker wedding shoes and hired Gemma Sutton to do her wedding day hair and make-up. She opted for loose curls worn to one side; it looked wonderful.

Booking Botleys Mansion

Thea and Sam only viewed Botleys Mansion in Surrey when they were looking for the dream wedding venue to host their once-in-a-lifetime occasion. They absolutely loved the grandeur of Botleys Mansion and the glass roof in The Atrium, where they planned on hosting both their wedding ceremony and their reception.
The couple planned on inviting exactly 100 guests to their wedding, so they made The luxurious, glass-roofed Atrium work perfectly for both the day and the night time events.

The Big Day: 10th July, 2016

After 2 years of planning, the big day finally arrived for Thea and Sam. The bride walked down the aisle in The Atrium with her father to Pachelbel’s Canon in D on the piano and both her parents did a reading during the ceremony; her father wrote a poem and her mother read ‘I Carry Your Heart’ by EE Cummings.

The couple had chosen a colour scheme of white and pink for their day, so florally, pink roses and pink and white peonies decorated Botleys Mansion beautifully for both the ceremony and the reception; not forgetting Thea’s stunning bouquet. All of the floral arrangements were created by Lily’s Flowers.
After the exchange of rings and their announcement as husband and wife, the newlywed couple enjoyed walking the grounds with their wedding photographer, Wendy Aldiss, as well as chatting to friends and family before the wedding banquet was served, back in The Atrium. Thea and Sam had previously chosen a sumptuous menu of onion tart, a roast chicken dinner and a chocolate pot for dessert – all of which was followed by tea, coffee and truffles. The wedding reception tables were decorated with tall candelabras featuring beautiful floral arrangements. For name cards, Sam and Thea placed paper birds on top of wine glasses and for wedding favours the couple gave out boxes of chocolate Lego bricks – due to Sam’s life long love of Lego.
In the evening a band called Southside Junction set up in The Atrium and the newlyweds danced their first dance as husband and wife to ‘My Eyes Adored You’ by The Jersey Boys. They also cut through a decadent, 6 tier wedding cake; ruffled with dark pink peonies decorating the base and the top. Their cake had been designed by a company up in Manchester called Slattery and it almost looked too beautiful to cut.

The Bridal Party

Thea chose three bridesmaids to walk with her down the aisle on the big day; her sister Veryan, her best friend Emma and Sam’s sister Stephanie.  The girls wore navy, pink and silver dresses that Thea chose with her mother.

Sam, his best man and the ushers wore navy suits from Moss Bros; Sam wore a grey tie so that he looked different, and the rest of the groom’s party wore pink ties to complement the bridal party.

The Honeymoon

Instead of mentioning a traditional gift list on their wedding invitations, Thea and Sam asked for honeymoon contributions. Together, they’d booked a wonderful trip to San Francisco, Hawaii and Las Vegas to celebrate their new married life.
